Hello!

Welcome to my blog about living glycerin free and being an awesome stay-at-home cat mom.

To buy a teal pumpkin or not to buy a teal pumpkin?

To buy a teal pumpkin or not to buy a teal pumpkin?

My favorite holiday is fast approaching. I love Halloween! It combines two things I have loved since I was a very little kid: chocolate and dressing up.

Halloween also happened to be my dad’s favorite holiday. He would go all out decorating the house, playing spooky music, and sitting on the front porch in costume, not moving until a kid reached into the candy bowl he was holding. He got a kick out of scaring the older kids.

I wish I lived in a neighborhood where I could do things like that. But I haven’t gotten any trick-or-treaters in the entire time I’ve lived here. I always buy a small bag of my preferred major brand chocolate, just in case.

This year I’m tempted to get a teal pumpkin. As someone with food allergies, in addition to my glycerin allergy (which can also be in food), I think what the Teal Pumpkin Project is doing is super important. Since you can add your house to their map of places participating, I’m considering buying a foam teal pumpkin and a couple bags of fun non-food treats the next time I’m at Target.

While I may not get trick-or-treaters, I do decorate our house. I put a few things around the front door and the window next to it. I also decorate the main living area even though it’s not visible from the front door. I just love the atmosphere it creates. But that could just be my inner Goth talking. Doesn’t everyone have a skulls and spider webs print table cloth they use year round?
