Hello!

Welcome to my blog about living glycerin free and being an awesome stay-at-home cat mom.

One day I happened to glance at the ingredient list on some cat treats I was thinking about buying for my girls. Because my brain has been so trained to look for it at this point, the “Glycerin” half way down the list jumped out at me. I’d never given any thought to whether or not I should be looking for glycerin in cat treats.

While it does seem to be a fairly common ingredient in cat treats, you can find options that do not include it.

I currently have three different bags of treats that I feed to Parker the Manx. All of them are glycerin free. Her primary treats are Temptations Seafood Medley. To help the health of her teeth and freshen her breath, I like Greenies Dental Treats in Catnip flavor. For special occasions, Parker gets Purina Purely Fancy Feast Natural Hand-Selected Chicken treats.

Tavi is on a prescription diet to lose weight. She is not thrilled about this. However Royal Canin Satiety Rx Diet does make treats. Our vet was kind enough to include that in the prescription they wrote for her. So far Tavi seems to enjoy them just as much as any other treat I’ve ever given her.

Have you ever checked your cat’s treats to see if they contain glycerin? Which treats are your cat’s favorite?
